Star Ocean: the Second Story OST Booklet Interviews

Game Creator's Voice

It has been said that the Japanese are not good at the computer industry, which is already showing rapid growth, especially in the software field where originality is required.
However, many of the games that require this originality are of good quality and several users around the world are enjoying games from Japan.
Creating a game that can be enjoyed by many people is not possible without the cooperation of resources, time, money, and things like that. Fortunetly, we have a lot of unique people and with great help and support of Enix, we will complete "Star Ocean: the Second Story". I am very thankful to be able to do this.
I would also like to thank you for taking this opportunity!
What do you think of the original soundtrack?
Since this was the first game on the Playstation, there were various things that were difficult and time-consuming, but when the original soundtrack was released, I think that our determination and dedication paid off. Game music is a delicate thing. On one hand, you must create atmosphere like a movie, but on the other hand, in order to complement the game, which is different from film, it is necessary to have a solid understanding even if you listen alone. Thinking about the balance between the two isn't simple; you must create and extract the good in both.
Nowadays, the sound functionality of the Playstation is much more advanced than a few years ago. The music has become very high quality, which we strived to meet the demand.
What I felt through "Star Ocean: the Second Story" is that everything that impresses human beings is made from humans. I think that the desire to listen to good songs or play good games will be universal with this game.

Producer's Voice

The first thing that made me realize I was a shadow in the music industry was I could only think of the game collection in Dragon Quest as an assignment to enjoy the first game more.
Game music has become ubiquitous that one cannot talk about it without an audience for the game.
Speaking of Motoi-san's music, to tell the truth, there have been many good songs [Fields, Battles, Towns, ect.] I was excited to see which songs went with each scene. This time required more effort because the quality required, especially because of cutscenes.
The atmosphere of the "Star Ocean" world, which weaves game screen and song together, leaves a lasting impression.
When asked how I feel when listening to the songs, I need to listen more than once and follow the lyrics.
When I think about it after finishing the game, I feel sad because of the memories when playing. There are so many good songs, so it feels like a waste!
Please enjoy the music world of "Star Ocean: the Second Story" and if you listen to this soundtrack and want to play the game again, please return to it again and again! Star Ocean is a game you can play forever!
